Ripley County Colleges are the following 3: Ivy Tech Stage College, Southeastern Indiana Cooperative, and Purdue University Extension Service. Major Colleges located within a 30-48 mile radius include Hanover College, Franklin College, and Earlham College. Currently 770 students from Ripley County are attending College.

Ivy Tech Stage College was founded in 1963 and currently serves more than 102,000 students a year. This college has 23 campuses offering the following Degree Programs: Accounting, Automotive Technology, Aviation Technology, Biotechnology, Building Construction Management, Business Administration, Chemical Technology, Computer Information Systems,Construction Technology, Criminal Justice, Dental Assistant, Design Technology, Early Childhood Education, Electronics and Computer Technology, Environmental Design, Human Services, Liberal Arts, Paramedic Science, Therapeutic Massage, Visual Communications, and Surgical Technology. Their programs lead to two-year associate's degrees and one-year technical certificates. Ivy Tech Stage College is the second-largest post-secondary institution in Indiana.

Hanover College in Jefferson County was founded in 1827 as private, coeducational liberal arts college. This makes it the oldest private college in Indiana. Their student body is formed of 1,050 young men and women from 36 states and 18 countries. The average class size is 16 with a Student/Faculty Ratio of 10 to 1. The 650 acre college overlooks the Ohio River with its Georgian architectural style buildings and landscaped grounds. Their library known as the Duggan Library contains over 215,000 print volumes, 284,000 documents, and 4,500 audiovisual items to support student research, as well as numerous electronic databases and full text files. The Students can earn the Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 30 Academic Programs. Programs include Anthropology, Art, Art History, Biochemistry, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Classical Studies, Communication, Computer Science, Economics,
Environmental Studies, Exercise Science, Geology, Philosophy, Physics & Astronomy, Political Science, Psychology, and Theological Studies.
